Hello Readers! The Cicero Library’s 2020 Summer Reading Program begins this year on Monday, July 20, 2020 and goes on for 5 weeks until Monday, August 24, 2020!
As we continue practicing safe social distancing, the CPL is offering the reading program two ways this year: traditional paper reading logs AND digital reading logs! All a reader needs to register is a Cicero Library card! We are also allowing Cicero Library issued temporary cards for the reading program this year. If a child under the age of 12 has never had a Cicero library card, they can use their parents’ or guardians’ library card to register.
For a paper reading log, call us at the library at 708-652-8084 ex 7 and we’ll register you step-by-step over the phone. Once all kids are registered, we’ll set up a curb-side appointment or library appointment so you can safely pickup your paper reports and free reading program bag! Once you’ve reached your reading program goal, return all reading logs by placing them in a gallon-sized ziplock bag and into the library bookdrop or via library appointment to return in person at the library. After we review your reading log, we’ll let you know when your 2020 reading program certificate and earned prizes are ready for pickup!
If you’re going digital, it’s easy to register! Follow the SRP link to the reading program website from a computer desktop or laptop: https://bit.ly/CPLReads . Select your reading level based on the grade you just finished. Click on the SIGN ME UP button and fill in the information! We’ll review your registration and once approved, call you to schedule a curb-side pickup or library visit to pick up your reading program bag! Once you’ve reached your reading program goal, we’ll review your reading account. After we review your reading log, we’ll let you know when your 2020 reading program certificate and earned prizes are ready for pickup!
As long as they have a title and author, all books, e-books, magazines, audiobooks, podcasts, graphic novels, newspaper articles and video read-alongs are allowed for the 2020 CPL summer reading program. The Cicero Library website has some great apps and resources available to use at home for some of these reading materials! Links are also provided on the reading program website.
To download e-books, you must have a valid Cicero Public Library card. To get started, visit our Magic Wall of e-books
